Soaring down to the Sky City
Since Mt. Koya was awarded three stars in the Michelin Green Guide in 2009 and later registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has attracted many visitors, including those from France.
Furthermore, in the American magazine National Geographic’s “20 Places to Visit in the World,” Mt. Koya was selected as the only destination in Japan. It is described as “mysterious, with a completely different sense of time from the floating world.”
Mt. Koya is a sky city that stretches across the highlands, with peaks over 1,000 meters.
We have prepared a new route that allows you to descend by helicopter to Mt. Koya, a sacred site that has been open for over 1,200 years.
Typically, it takes about 3 hours to travel from Kyoto by train or bus. However, with this new style of travel, you can reach Mt. Koya in just 30 minutes while enjoying the spectacular view from the sky.

Stay at Koyasan Junbekkaku Honzan Ekoin.
Koyasan Shukubo Ekoin is a temple located near the entrance to the Okunoin No. 1 Bridge on Mt. Koya, a sacred site of Shingon esoteric Buddhism established by Kobo Daishi Kukai during the early Heian period. The guest rooms are traditional Japanese-style yet equipped with modern amenities to ensure a comfortable stay while preserving the timeless atmosphere.
Surrounded by the natural beauty of Mt. Koya, you are invited to have a memorable time, escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Vegetarian Cuisine
Vegetarian cuisine has been passed down through the long history of Mt. Koya. Healthy dishes made with various local ingredients, such as seaweed, legumes, and wild vegetables, are prepared without meat or fish, making them suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. We invite you to enjoy these dishes at a leisurely pace during your stay at the inn.

Shingon esoteric Buddhism emphasizes self-purification, and practitioners purify themselves through the daily chanting of the Rikan Sutra, a sutra of great merit.
As I watched the wood I had written on burn, I felt the intense heat of the large flame rising before me. The fire, dancing with the rhythm of powerful drums, stirred emotions I had never experienced before. Please close your eyes and pray for the fulfillment of your wishes.
